Preparing the sauna for guests

Creating the perfect atmosphere for guests at Oasis of Warmth requires attention to every detail: from cleanliness and safety to temperature and scent. It’s important that every moment spent in the sauna brings relaxation and comfort. Here are some steps to prepare the sauna:

1. Cleaning and Hygiene

  • General cleaning: Wipe all surfaces, including benches, floors, and walls. Make sure there is no dust, dirt, or unpleasant odors.
  • Change the water: If you have a pool or tub, change the water and clean the filters.
  • Ventilation: After cleaning, it is important to ventilate the room well to avoid excessive humidity or stuffiness.
  • Clean the stones: Ensure the stones are clean and will not emit unpleasant odors when heated.

2. Checking Temperature and Humidity

  • Temperature: Make sure the sauna temperature is comfortable for guests, usually between 60-90°C, depending on the type of sauna (Finnish, Russian, etc.).
  • Humidity: For a Russian bath or hammam, it is important to maintain humidity between 50% and 100%. In a sauna, the humidity should be lower.
  • Water temperature: If you have buckets for pouring water, ensure that the water is at a comfortable temperature (not too hot or too cold).

3. Preparing Equipment and Accessories

  • Towels and sheets: Prepare a clean towel for each guest. If you have sheets for wrapping, make sure they are ready.
  • Slippers and hats: Place slippers and hats near the door or on the benches for guests’ convenience.
  • Hygiene products: Ensure you have soap, shampoo, and shower gel available.
  • Essential oils: For an added atmosphere, you can use essential oils for the sauna (e.g., eucalyptus or menthol).
  • Broom for the bath: If you plan to do traditional Russian steam bathing, prepare the broom, ensuring it is soaked in water beforehand to soften and be comfortable to use.

4. Ensuring Safety

  • Showers and benches: Make sure the benches and floor are not slippery. Use mats or special coverings for safety if necessary.
  • Temperature control: Monitor the temperature to avoid sudden changes during the session.
  • Drinks: Offer guests water, herbal tea, or other drinks to help maintain hydration.

5. Creating the Atmosphere

  • Lighting: Use soft, calming lighting that creates a relaxing environment without being too harsh on the eyes.
  • Sounds: Soft music or nature sounds can contribute to a peaceful setting.
  • Scents: To enhance the atmosphere, use an aroma lamp with essential oils or scent diffusers designed for saunas.

6. Cozy Relaxation Area

If you have a relaxation area (such as after the sauna or by the pool), make sure you have comfortable loungers or chairs covered with clean sheets. Offer guests light snacks or herbal tea to help them unwind.
